This chapter is primarily comic relief, and after so much drama in the past dozen or so chapters, I am more than ready to accept that.

I haven’t talked much about Kagura, even though she was the first member of the Zodiac to be introduced after the main three. There are two reasons for this. One, in all the time she’s been around, she’s had maybe one scenario of character development (maybe). Two, I honestly didn’t get her. I still don’t relate to her, but I think I’m finally starting to understand her – now, when she’s all but bowing out of the story.

This chapter is positively brimming with subtle character interactions and not-so-subtle plot developments – about as narrative-driven as one could wish for from this series.
So Yuki is starting to take a more active role in the Sohma family intrigues, and I think it’s safe to say that it’s not because his fears are any less, but that he’s finally found something to fight for. When he overhears Shigure insinuate that Akito (with Kureno) is heading out to meet Tohru, he decides to tail them.
Chapter 60: Leaving the Nest
Yuki’s taken a big step forward, even if we don’t know exactly what that step is yet. But it’s having an obvious effect, and since Yuki’s reached some resolution, it’s time for the narrative to turn toward Tohru.
